Wonderful Indonesia, an Amazing Culinary Adventure
What is the best reason to visit Indonesia? Exotic and beautiful beaches in Bali? A pink beach at Komodo Island? or some world class diving sites in Raja Ampat? Those are only a very small part among a thousand interesting places in Indonesia. As the world's largest archipelago nation, Indonesia is made up of several thousand islands which span eastward from Sabang in northern Sumatra to Merauke in Papua.
Indonesia is a country full of diversity with numorous different ethnic groups, languages and religions. Therefore, Indonesian culture and food are also become very unique and diverse.
Food in daily life.Indonesian cuisine reflects regional, ethnic, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Western influences. All mixed in Indonesian traditional food which are very delicious, tasty and spicy.
Most Indonesian food use coconut milk, various types of chilli, spices, palm sugar and shrimp paste. Traditional Indonesian food never used any instant coconut milk, artificial sweeteners, food coloring and food fragrance. How does Indonesian food get their traditional food material that made delicious and tasty Indonesian food?
The God must be happy when HE creates Indonesia. The land is very fertile where many trees used as food materials are easily grown, such as :
1. Coconut Tree
Coconut milk are easily made from countless coconut trees in Indonesia. Coconut can be found everywhere with cheap prices. In Indonesian traditional market,we can buy coconut and ask the coconut seller to produce coconut milk with a coconut squeezer machine. Coconut milk from Indonesia are also used to produce.Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) which has been exported to many countries. VCO from Indonesia is one of the best quality in the world,
2. Chilli
Chilli trees are spread in all parts of Indonesia. Different types of chillies are easily grown, such as big red chilly, curly red chilli, green chilli and cayenne pepper. Indonesia also have a kind of extra hot cayenne pepper, known as devil cayenne pepper, which is hotter than the famour jalapeno chilli from Mexico.
3. Spices
Spices are Indonesian natural resources which are famous all over the world. There was one oh the reason why Dutch people came to colonize Indonesia in 1956. Spices are commonly used in Indonesian food. Pepper, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, anise, star anise and clove are planted in all parts of Indonesia. Some spices like pepper and clove are very expensive.Indonesian cloves which are used to produce cigarettes are the best quality in the world.
4, Food Coloring
Indonesian food never used artificial food coloring as sources for natural food colorings can be found all over the place. Here are some food materials used for food colorings,
Green from pandan leaves, suji leaves and spinach
Red from beetroot and red dragon fruit
Orange from red yam
Yellow from tumeric
Purple from purple sweet potato
Blue from telang flower
Black from merang ash, squid ink and charcoal

Indonesian food always used natural food fragrance. It can be found everywhere in Indonesia. That's why Indonesian food never used artificial food fragrance. Two kind of Indonesian food which grab the attention of the world's food lover are Rendang and Nasi Goreng, Rendang, a dish of meat, usually beef, slow-cooked in coconut milk and various spices until fairly dry. Nasi Goreng is an Indonesian spicy fried rice . In 2011, Rendang was crowned the Best Food in CNN's World's 50 Best Foods. In the recent list published in July 2017, once again, Rendang is number 1. Second to Rendang on the top was Nasi Goreng. What an honor for Indonesia! Two kind of Indonesian food are acknowledged as the world's most delicious food!
